"Shit," Leon muttered when he was told the news, eyeing the ceiling and seeing the wooden struts that kept it from collapsing. He fired at them, even if it wouldn't kill Eliza she wouldn't be able to pursue them. Jill meanwhile had taken his weapon from Travis, fearful of what he might do as she dragged him to safety.

"Die," he said, his voice barely a whisper. Travis tried reaching for his weapon but Jill slapped his hand away.

Leon knew they wouldn't take the news well and chose to keep it to himself. "Come on," he said, not knowing how effective causing the roof to cave in would be, "we have to get out of here."

"Wait," Sofia told Cammy, "he here soon." Not only was she thinking of the injuries Cammy had sustained but of just how knowing about Interpol would affect her. "Tell me," she said, the words slow given the fact Sofia had to think about the pronounciation of the english words, but ever gentle, "before Interpol, what was your life like?"

"She's like you," Philip said, "you both are willing to do whatever it takes to do what's right."

"Is that what you see?" Nancy studied Philip to see if he was just saying this to protect Jessie or if it was because he genuinely believed in her. "That may be so but her actions are a threat to us all, not least of all myself. I would be doing all of us a disservice to not act on this."

Philip nodded and wandered over to the cubboard. "She thought that might be how you see it." He reached for a bottle before asking if it was okay.

Nancy nodded her consent and he poured himself a drink. "She knows why you will abandon her, and I don't believe she'll like it but has come to accept this is the consequence of what she did."

"Like I said, I'd be doing greater harm, to her and to us, if I didn't." Philip offered her his drink which she refused. "There's something else." He sipped for a moment, working out how to put his thoughts into actions. "I think maybe there's something between her and Dave." Nancy gave him the chance to finish as she took this in. "If you were to get rid of Jessie, what about him?"

"You think I should ignore this for his benefit?" Nancy fought to keep her tone reasonable, rational.

"He wouldn't want her to go," Philip said, "neither would I." It dawned on him what might work. "I'm not sure if our loyalty to her means anything, but I do know that any act of...um, of mercy you had on her would strengthen the team, not weaken it."

"How do you figure that?" Nancy wanted to know.

"It shows that you are forgiving, compassionate." Philip set his drink aside and walked over to Nancy. "By seeing that they would be more willing to follow you. I know that you are not cold hearted and I think they do too."

"So," Nancy asked, unsure, "if I got rid of her I would be showing a cold heart?"

Philip came closer, knowing that what he was about to say would sound foolish but he had to say it anyway. "You can help us by pointing out our mistakes, so we know not to make them again." Before Nancy could answer he played the loyalty card again. "If you were to show mercy to her we all would be willing to do anything you ask of us." Philip leaned in close so she could see the earnestness on his face. "Anything."

"Hmm." Nancy couldn't help if Philip probably meant more than he was saying and pulled away. "I'll take your loyalty to her under consideration," she said as she got to her feet.

"Is that a yes?"

Nancy let him stew for a moment as she put the drink and bottle away. "It means I'm taking it into account. Now let's not make her wait any longer." She went to lead Jessie into the lounge as Philip went to wait with Dave.

"I know what this is all about," she told Nancy, "and I know that nothing I say will make any..."

"Jess," Nancy said, holding up a hand. "You held a police officer at gunpoint. This is correct?"

Jessie wondered if she was trying to be put at ease, to be let down gently. It didn't quite work. "There was no other way I could think of to get the information I needed." There, it's said, she thought. Jessie had a fair idea what would be made of the confession, and steeled herself for however Nancy might react.

"You have any idea what you've done?" she asked, no anger in her quiet voice Jessie was surprised to hear but it was hard, and cold. "The police would be well within your rights to put you away, and they could come after me and the two people who were in here trying to save your ass."

Jessie's reply to this was to tilt her head up a little, trying to remain proud. "They shouldn't. All the blame is mine, if anyone should fall for this it should be me."

"I'm afraid it's not that easy."

Jessie couldn't believe how well she was taking it and chose to say nothing, expecting fire and brimstone if she did.

"Because I trained you it would all fall back onto me, and because I train Dave and Philip it'll fall onto them as well." Despite how calm Nancy was Jessie could tell she had really blown it.

"Would it help if I surrendered myself to the athorities?"

The look Nancy gave her told her not to be so naive. "Maybe I should let you, but it wouldn't make a scrap of diffirence." Nancy sat herself down, really having finished with the foolish girl.

"I guess you'll want to get rid of me then." When Nancy didn't answer she pressed the issue. "If there's anything I can do..."

"Just get out." Nancy got up and headed for the door to the stairs. "I'll let you know if I can think of a reason to let you stay." Dave and Philip could probably hear the last bit but she didn't care. Nancy was angry at Jessie for what she did, angry at herself for not taking care of the situation, but most of all angry at the consequences all of them were likely to face.
