This is probably a daft question, but did anyone watch the old Super Mario cartoons, Legend of Zelda and of course Captain N?

That was actually how I first heard of the franchises we know and love. Back then, my parents were still very stuffy, and wouldn't let me own any consoles other than our old BBC Micro - so I only learned of the actual games soon after seeing the cartoons, when visiting friends or going to a local youth club (which itself had a NES, for people to play). For that reason, I guess the cartoons provided me with a few tips for the respective games - such as "There are no green keys on Excalibur!" (a quote from Captain N), for when I had Wizards & Warriors.

This obviously means, yes I originally knew Bowser as 'King Koopa' - so after finally getting my first NES, I remember I was on World 1-4 on the original Super Mario Bros., and I was like "Who's shooting those bloody fireballs at me??"... then when I reached the first 'false' Bowser, I was like "Oh my god, it's that King Koopa guy from the cartoon!". Mom, in turn, once called Bowser 'Super Duper Koopa', when getting my NES inspired her to do that Super Mario birthday cake for my 9th birthday party.

When the 'extreme' hater prowls of 2015 forced Lemmy to re-register as 'Hip Koopa', yes I instantly knew it was him - that was Lemmy Koopa's name in the cartoons, hence June being 'Bully Koopa Month' after Roy Koopa's cartoon name. I even call the airships 'Doomships'!

In one of my old drabble fics, Lemmy and Wizzard (another Mario fan here, for those who don't know or remember him) team up to become Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas, to distract a gigantic Balrog (don't ask! LOL) while Vega sets off to rescue me from Bison. 'Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas' was, itself, the title of an episode of the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon.

I knew this post would attract my little Koopa Prince Happy

Actually Lemmy, I made the post because, yesterday I bought a DVD of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show (which, itself, was the first of those shows I saw). I just could not leave it on the shelf LOL

Yes, I've seen one or two on YouTube. I watched a video of the A Cheatsy's Life song (from Super Mario World) a few times.

Did you ever watch the cartoons, by the way?

Yes, I think it may have been before YouTube took the shows down?

They are getting strict with the copyright but fans can go to other more reliable sources
