Good luck wishes for Jasmine

With Balrog Bashing Month just around the corner, may I please take this opportunity to remind you, that Balrog's birthday is the earliest date when Jasmine can have her 'operation' - so mom and I will talk this week, and book her in as soon as we can. Please use this thread to send her any good luck wishes.

If anyone wants to post any pictures (not just cat pictures) for your share of the good luck wishes, well may I remind you I named her after both Princess Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin, and Jasmine Black from the Viewtiful Joe games. When mom found the kitty for me, she insisted on a princess name for her, preferably after any of the Disney Princesses - but I was still undergoing an airing celebration, and airing tradition requires that any new kittens I Damme well have must be given a Capcom name. Even my own name Natalie would qualify for both, thanks to the Monster Hunter movie and, yes, there are a few Disney characters named Natalie, unofficially including my character in one Disney Princess video game.

As such, I accepted mom's suggestion to name the kitty Jasmine yes because the SNES version of the Aladdin game -which, coincidentally, I saw a copy of when mom and I went shopping on the day before we put Yoshimoto in foster care- was among the Disney games made by Capcom. Cue the inevitable Disney binge (and the praise from our very own Sephiroth, for Kingdom Hearts being no exception!), I know LOL

Thanks, Mod Soul. Mom phoned the vet this morning - Jasmine will have a pre-op assessment at 11:30 tomorrow morning, they will arrange a date for the surgery then. But I did give mom another nudge, that the surgery cannot be any earlier than Balrog's birthday - the vet said Jasmine can be snipped at 5 months, and she will reach that milestone on Balrog's birthday. Cue the comments, about Jasmine scratching Balrog to death Laughing

Update: Jasmine will have her surgery on September 8. Our vet practice only does the Cone of Shame, they don't do that onesie vest - so I'll have to keep putting the cone on Jasmine, if she pulls it off again LOL. She will be the third Farrell feline to have the Cone of Shame.

And before the question arises, no I still don't have any airings imminent - so Jasmine is all clear to have the surgery that day.

As for the 'nil by mouth' ruling, well the decision is that I must take away the food dish at 9 p.m. on September 7, however the cats can still have water until 7 a.m. on the day of Jasmine's surgery. After mom takes Jasmine to the vet, yes I can put the food and water back - Thunder will very likely be hungry too, bless him 0:-)

Jasmine has had her operation, she's feeling a little better and yes she was hungry when she came home. Mom used my toy fishing rod, to her to the kitten food prescribed by the vet - she wolfed it down (though Thunder stole some of it too LOL)! Mom gave her half of it today, she says I can give her the rest tomorrow - when I can also start putting her on pain meds.

Jasmine did get the Cone of Shame, but she's more interested in having a wash than licking the wound. I did get a picture of her wearing the cone, and mom says I only need to put the cone on her if she starts licking the wound - as well as to have her wear it at night, while I'm sleeping...

I gave Jasmine the rest of the cat food, and her first round of pain meds. Once again, though, Thunder stole some of it LOL No need to put the Cone of Shame on her while I was sleeping, however - this is the first time any of my cats was unfazed by the snipping incision...

Just as I suspected, though, last night Thunder did hiss at Jasmine 'from behind' - but for the cat owners among you, please be reassured that this is nothing to worry about. Mom says it must be because, the snipped cat smells like the vet...
