The SuperBeast Chronicles 16

The rain poured down heavy. Mike sat in front of the window, watching the puddles form. Cammy leans in the doorway, holding her tea, watching Mike sit motionless. He barely blinks his eyes and he sits on the stool. Cammy puts down her mug and walks toward Mike.

Cammy: Honey, it's been four days. What's wrong? You haven't said a word, you haven't slept, you barely eat. By the look of you you've dropped 10 pounds.

Mike sits in silence. Cammy strokes his head. Mike's depression had gotten the better of him many a time, but this was worse. A war inside Mike's head was raging on. He was always his own worst enemy and his biggest critic. He kept wondering to himself why and how he's lasted so long. How could he silence the screams of the people who had to die, and the ones he couldn't protect? He slowly develops tears.

Cammy: You know, that's the first time I've seen you cry in a long time.

Mike slumps off the stool and collapses to his knees. His fists go to his temples and he sobs uncontrollably. Cammy goes to her knees and holds his head in her bosom, gently stroking his hair.

Cammy: Baby, please stop crying. Shh, it's okay.

Mike: I can't do this anymore...it's all finally catching up to me...

Cammy: Come on, baby. You've pulled through this before.

Mike: No...I can't do this anymore.

An hour later, Mike is asleep. Cammy is on the phone with a therapist. As a last resort, she thought maybe talking to someone could help him. Mike had only confided in Cammy of what he feared, and what he hoped for in life. The Savior of Izuna needed saving, and Cammy knew it well, but this was beyond what she could do, and her thoughts were maybe a professional was needed to talk Mike out of it.
